I am just an average Aussie, with no ulterior motives.

For those who complain about the actual date of 'Australia Day' (26 January), please note: THE FIRST FLEET ARRIVED AT BOTANY BAY ON THE 18TH OF JANUARY, and raised the English flag then! (Source)

NOPE!

Children are not born with concepts of racism (or any -ism) - it's taught! And that's tragic.

Most innocent victims of war have no known grave in which to rest.

Those of you who know me know that I am not a political animal (nor am I Jewish etc either - just a human being). One of my part-time interests/hobbies is reading about the Nazis in WWII - not to glorify them (by no means!), but to continue trying to get my head around how a regime and a 'cultured' nation could possibly get to a point in its identity where it thought it was quite acceptable to exterminate a whole cultural minority (the Jews & Slavs and Poles), let alone the absolute horror of the death camps and worse...

Yet, as an Australian, and as one of the WWII 'Allies', we were not immune to our own acts of terrorism against the 'enemy' back in those days - if I can put it in the contemporary language of today. Not once, but TWICE, we wiped out two whole Japanese cities with atomic weapons... Damnit! Where is the glory of victory in that...?!? I guess, for me, even 70 years after these events, I'm still trying to get my head around how a 'coalition of national powers could go to such extreme measures, just to prove their point? To prove their power? Their rightness? I really don't know! I guess I have a sense of shame.

Like I said, I'm not trying to make some sort of political statement in contemporary terms here.

I'm just refreshing our memories of the

horrors that one group of people can do to another - anywhere, anytime.

No one is immune.

May it never ever happen again!

I Am a Classic Introvert

I am a Classic Introvert

And that's quite OK by me!

"Just because I'm being quiet doesn't mean I'm mad, anti-social or depressed, sometimes I just don't feel like talking".

As Andrew said, trying to explain what it's like being an introvert: 

"...I can cope in social situations. It is just absolutely exhausting though, as an actor might feel after coming off stage". 

I get this... I remember coming off-stage after gigs, feeling physically and psychologically absolutely spent, and then having to socially mix with people afterwards... that was a difficult Catch-22 situation for me.

People naturally assumed I was an Extrovert, because they had literally just seen me jumping around on-stage, and just assumed I was an Extrovert... but that was a really big 'Mask' I would slip into, for that stage persona! After a gig, I just had to keep that 'Mask' on for a while to socially mix. It was OK with close friends because I could just 'chillax' with them afterwards, but when random strangers would come up to me and want some of my time, etc after a gig - that was kinda awkward for me, but it was OK... part of wearing that 'Mask', I guess.

But when I got home, in private, would literally just 'hibernate in my cave', until I could rest and emotionally re-energize again (let alone physically - I would sometimes physically lose up to 10kgs of weight in just pure sweat at some of those band gigs - seriously!

Also, when I used to do a lot of public speaking, the same was true... while not exercising the physical energy, the emotional/psychological energy was tough on me, as an introvert. People would assume I'd be an Extrovert, because I'd be up in front of people, looking calm, composed, fluent and confident as a Public Speaker; but it was a well-practised "Mask", I assure you!
