Tree

Does this look Xmassy enough? At least when this one was taken, my kids would come over for a few hours to hang out.

They haven't been given permission for over three years now to come around to my place at all anytime of year. She's a really good mum - but crazy as batshit sometimes too. Three years. No Xmas here for me again this year.

Does this help explain why Xmas-time feels so shitty to me?

  1. Is there nothing you can do legally to make sure you get access at Christmas and other holidays?

Your tree looks lovely. Very festive.

  2. Legally? Thanks for the good joke! I'll see them, but I assure you it won't be on Xmas Day - simply because it will be "too inconvenient" for their mum. If I try to say otherwise, she'll simply say "no" to me more and more and more, using more and more weird batshit excuses everytime. I'm way beyond hope here.

Thanks. That's a tree from 4 years ago! lol Mine is still sitting in its box in the front room... today... today I'll get to it! Not right now tho, as it's 4.30 in the morning I don;t think the new housemate would appreciate that, huh? lolol.

  3. This is so sad. I know families which have split and some quite bitter soplits where they share the day...FOR THE KIDS...One partner will have the day till after lunch and the other has the reat fo the day.... How old are your boys? Do they have a say in any of this? Don't spend the day alone...thats bound to lead to sadness. I hope you have a mum or dad or cousins/ even a best mate who will invite you to his place... My sister was going to spend it alone but we pushed and pushed and now she will be with family...minus her son and his wife.. but not alone at least. Take care okay!

  4. Now THAT'S a tree! In fact, is there even a tree under there?!

Hope Christmas gets a bit better for you!

  5. Christmas can suck. I've been there and there is nothing that makes you feel more empty than a Christmas alone, especially when you DO have family and can't be with them.
I know you will decline, but you have a standing invitation to come have Christmas with us. We've got a spare bed and we'll have lots of food and grog (and plenty of eggs).
I really feel for you Mal.
And yes the "legals" are a joke. Court makes orders with no way of enforcing them, you can go back to court time after time with no result.
    Barstards.
