Practise

I've spent the evening working out all the bits and arranging some nine new songs we'll be looking at as a band together on Saturday's rehearsal, the first proper one without Mick.

Some of them are really easy simple three-chord knock-off ones (that punters at gigs keep asking for!), like the handful of AC/DC ones - just to keep the drunk punters at the end of the night happy with a bit of barroom thumping blah blah blah. Mick'd never do that. Same with "Nutbush" - someone requested it on Saturday, and altho we'd never played it, being a three-chord stomper, twas no problem at all. Lots of older people got up and started doing the "Nutbush", which made me almost fall over with laughter! So long as people are having fun, you know...
  • Smooth - Santana
  • Miss You - Rolling Stones
  • Turning Japanese - The Vapours
  • You Shook Me All Night Long - AC/DC
  • Whole Lotta Rosie - AC/DC
  • Back in Black - AC/DC
  • Long Way To the Top - AC/DC
  • Moby Dick - Led Zeppelin (a drum solo, so Julian can startle and amaze! heh heh)
  • Nutbush City Limits - Tina Turner
"Smooth" and "Miss You" will be our attempts at getting some grooves happening with just the three of us. We'll work something out.

Plus there's easily 21+ songs from our old sets that we can easily salvage with little work. So there's not that much to do.

Now we can concentrate on gigging. Yay! At long bloody last.

Looking forward to it.

Eddie rang last night... he's been working nights on-call (the joys of being an electrical engineer building a new factory!), and even last week did a 26-hour-straight day! Needless to say, there hasn't been much time for us to get together and re-record some of those vocals on his Kai Viti demo CD. But there's still plenty of time... it's not as tho we're under any time constraints or anything.

Playing with Eddie is a joy and delight, but in a different way. While it's stuff I wouldn't normally do, it's a real breath of fresh air playing something different in a different environment. Plus there's little homework to do to make it work successfully. Tis a win-win.

Yet again, I was so focused on the actual gig on Saturday night, that I totally forgot to hand my camera to someone to take some snaps of us playing. D'oh! There's just a few of the stage after we'd set-up. Not to worry.
