How Orwellian... "2 + 2 = 5", it seems. [Just babbling]
Hopefully I've worked-out my current social faux pas OK. Gawd, I hope so!
I'd love to receive visitors, but right now I simply cannot... the bathroom is unusable for others at the moment due to this ongoing illness. Thank gawd I don't have a housemate at the moment either... who'd want to share a place with someone who's dying?
On a happier note (Bb), I'm currently re-reading a book I haven't picked up in about 25 years, just for a bit of light-hearted distraction. "Round the Bend" by Nevil Shute is not a 'contemporary' book, nor written in a current literary fashion, nor is it neccessarily one of his better books (IMHO, despite it being one of the author's more personally-liked ones). 'Tis simply a simple tale told in a long, slow, drawn-out fashion, like a first-hand recollection, but quietly enjoyable without being earth-shattering. But that's OK for me today. "I may have walked and talked with god..."
My parents bought a nice bound set of all his novels as a complete set back in the early 70's (I assume, from their dates), and that's the set I currently own here for myself.

Poor you, wish there was something that could give you relief right now.
ReplyDeleteLove Nevil Shute, have done since childhood, my parents were also great fans. He could tell a story that man, and no, it's not earth shattering literature, but just a great comfy read. I recently picked up a hardcover, still with dustjacket, copy of "In the Wet".
Sorry, didn't mean to make you feel sick and tired, just wanted to make sure everything was ok
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to re-read old books but maybe not in these circumstances. Take care.
