All Grown Up

My little baby turned 10 last week! TEN! [sob sob]. Love ya, Mr Ix!

And Mr Boo (that is, SJ! He'd kill me if I called him 'Mr Boo' these days! rofl) turned 12! Gagh!

He's sitting in the cabin of his big brothers' Land Cruiser! He looks so much like his big brother at the same age... he'll be the one that'll be swatting the girls away... oh, who am I kidding? They're all handsome devils! heh heh.

And here's 15-yo Matt Damon... erm, I mean JD! Yup, that's the rear-tray of his own Toyota Land Cruiser 'paddock basher'... he drives his younger brothers to the school bus across their rural property every morning and afternoon. Pretty cool, I think.

When I dropped-in to see Ix on his birthday, JD rode-up on his green mud-spattered 250-cc dirt motorbike. He looked so grown-up, with his helmet and all that caper on. It's just a dirt bike he rides around on the farm. He's actually a good rider (that's no bias!), and as soon as he's old enough he'll go for his bike license.

He's wanting to leave school at the end of Year 10 (4th Form), and get an apprenticeship as a truck mechanic. He's already had two job offers already. It's what he wants and loves to do, so go for it, I say! Hmmm... I think I've already mentioned that the other week... not to worry...

Mr Hoon and I went for an unexpected sail on Tuesday. We had a School group unfortunately cancel on us at the last minute, and as we had to go out to Carcoar Dam to put the boats away anyways... as the waether was absolutely perfect, we thought we'd quickly rig two of the boats and go for a 45-minute sail!

I went out in the pink boat, and Mr Hoon in the green. Twas simply a gorgeous day to be out on the water... full sunshine, not too windy, water warming-up, good company... a real soul-refresher. Packing away all the boats took us all of 30 minutes... we surprised ourselves, as we were thinking about 90! Hence the sail.

We popped into Blayney on the way home and shared some lunch together at a local cafe. Tis always good to catch-up with Mr Hoon. He's a good friend. A really good friend.

We had ourselves a mini-gig at Milltown last Saturday, like a dry-run dress rehearsal with a handful of friends, just to make sure all the lights etc were going to work OK. The photo is not a good 'un simply because it was taken in the middle of the day. When we play this Saturday night, I'll get someone to take some decent photos of us and how we actually look.

This week has been a positively busy one... we've had three gigs confirmed for this month in three days! Two of them are paying ones as well. Now there's a paying Private Function on Sunday 21st December too. Yipee. All this long months of practice is starting to pay-off... fingers' crossed. Other venue managers and promoters are coming to our next two gigs to check us out, so we should get some more work out of those. That's the plan, anyways.

  4. My 15 yr old grandson would love to be driving the closest he gets is when he cuts his other granny's grass on the motor mower-not quite as exciting!

  5. Thank you. They're good boys, all bias aside. All sorts of people tell us that. Of course, boys will be boys [cough] - but that's what we love about 'em, huh?

  7. I haven't even taken the covers off my little Gherkin boat yet tho! Gasp! That should change over the Xmas/New Year break tho. I just don't enjoy going out for a sail without anyone else around, you know what I mean? I used to, but I just prefer the social aspect of having another boat out there as well. not racing, just pottering. Anyways, we'll get there.

And it's great that number one knows just what he wants to do. And he can fix your car!
