In the Soup

You have no idea how exhausting it is recording and re-mixing a music album! I slept 12 hours last night... I couldn't believe it myself. It's just so much focussed mental concentration over a five-to-six hour period cleaning-up the Kai Viti demos. I always write things down as I'm going (always have)... you should see the pages of "Mal-speak" scribbled notes, in case I accidentally undid something I didn't intend to! lol. It's just still getting used to using newer technology, that's all. Figuring out the best way of getting the best out of it... and these things can do almost anything these days! Sure is different from the 'old days' of bouncing down on 4-track tape recorders! heh heh.

But the Kai Viti demo album sounds a 100% better now. I'm going to listen to it all again tonight... give it some time to listen to it all with fresh ears. I know I've cleaned it up a whole lot, so it's a lot more listenable now.

Now, if only the Box of Sox recordings were as half as easy to recover. They are truly terrible. Pooh. That was an almost-endless labour of love with very limited successful results. There's only about 4 or 5 songs that are bloody good enough to share with anyone, after wading thru about TEN hours worth of rough "tape" - after about two weeks of seemingly-endless (and thankless) work... Matt's got a lot to answer for, he really has.

Last night I cooked up for myself a huge pot of vegetable soup, using lots of fresh veggies. Tasted nice yesterday... tonight it tasted a-maze-ing!!! These things seem to really brew beautifully after sitting in the pot mixing together for 24-hours! Thick, rich and creamy. Extreme yumminess. wOOt for bachelor cooking.

Mental-health-wise, I'm actually going quite well this week. Eating better sure helps.

  3. That soup looks like my stews - have you tried putting lamb shanks in while its cooking - I'm making myself hungry - as to it tasting better the next day - even better the day after.

Am away at a daughter's palce - have kept up with all the earlier posts - not much time on the computer here...
