ANZAC Day

Tomorrow is ANZAC Day here, a day of remembrance for our countrymen and women who fell in various conflicts defending the lifestyle we now take for granted.

Both of my grandfathers served in the Australian army here at home, one serving for a while in Japan immediately after wars' end.

I had a great-uncle who was shot down over Germany in a Lancaster bomber towards the end of WWII. He's buried somewhere near Dresden.

I'm planning on taking my three sons to the Sunset Service at our local War Graves, "Lest We Forget".

I'm not for one moment glorifying or justifying the absolute hellish horrors of war. Not at all.

We now live in a different world... we take so much for granted. We really do.
