Ben Chifley Dam

Ben Chifley Dam is our inland towns' main water supply. It's just 20 kms / 12.5 miles south of where I live... handy for sailing. Great for peace and quiet. A place to stop and reflect.

I was out there sailing on both Xmas Day and Boxing Day this year.

Check out a 360-degree Panorama Gallery of how beautiful it all looks, plus a map as well. (Please consider the gallery to be the blog post, thanks!)

Simply gorgeous... inland sailing! Rolling hills, gum trees and endless skies! There's nothing quite like it!

PS. There's more rural countryside photos to come... stay tuned! wOOt!

  1. Looks like a beautiful spot. I love sailing on inland lakes, as ling as they are not too tiny.

In your photo gallery you say some of the cabins were athlete accommodations for the Sydney Olympics. As I recall it, you are a few hours drive from Sydney. Why did they house athletes neat Bathurst, or were some of the events held near there?

  3. Thanks for your posts!

Tillerman, the local council bought four or six of the cabin-style accommodation buildings after the whole 2000 Sydney Olympic shebang was finished, and transported them up here!

Yes yes MOTD, I miss the ocean as well. But as it's 200 km / 120 miles away, I don't get there too often! Pooh!

  4. PS. I just found and added an aerial photo of the same area the photos I took cover. Another perspective :)

  5. Poor Tillerman!

It's just crazy that it's taken our local council over seven years to finally get everything up and running smoothly out there! But it's fantastic now they have. Yay!
