(*) Spam Sessions

Those Sunday afternoon Acoustic Sessions at the pub where I've been singing and playing have been, well... they keep getting hijacked by so-and-so's who just take over whenever I get up to play. I'm sick of it. Really fed up. Plus it ends up being Kareoke by Request, which makes my flesh creep. I'm taking a break. I'm feeling really disappointed and upset that it's allowed to get as bad as it does. What upsets me the most is that I had been really enjoying it, uptil just the past two weeks or so, when things just started geting, well, fucked-up :( Ends up I'm just not able to play anything I had prepared to play, and that's what it's supposed to be there for. Anyways... a break will help clear my mind.
Somewhere along the line, somehow, I've found myself as a bassplayer in a part-time band! I'm still not quite sure how it all happened, really. They're just playing covers [like oldies Club music, nothing too full-on], and they're all very competent players, which is delightful. Between you and me, I'm just glad it's only casually part-time... there's only so many times I can play "Hotel California" without throwing up! heh heh

On another note, the snowfalls nearby here today were very pretty. I couldn't get out there to take any snaps, as the police closed the main road just on the outskirts of town! Gagh!

  1. Ooooh, you're in a band? Man, I should read your blogs more often! Nice work!

You're right about "Hotel California", though the pub song though that really gets on my nerves is "Khe Sahn", which is often sung by people who weren't even born at the time of the Vietnam war... The same goes for "Copperhead Road", which I must have heard a million times whilst I was working at the leagues in Tamworth during the festivals.

And you guys got snow! Bah! All we got was half a meter of rain!

    Cheers!
