I am not normally 'into' this kind of TV series, but this one piqued my interest.
Wednesday (2022) is based on the Addams Family character. Sure it's a dark comedy, gothic, morbid, creepy, supernatural and sometimes rather silly gothic murder mystery... but the actress who portrays the titular character - Jenna Ortega - is amazing in the role... 5 out of 5 performance! One creepy fact... she does not blink during all episodes (well, just once, right at the end!)
There are fun and silly moments (which I enjoy), though the overall dark gothic mood is magnificent with great acting, directing, costumes, camerawork, lighting, makeup, etc. Even the sensual shooting location: Romania! Great 'movie' making.
Plus "Thing" is awesome - I've always loved that concept, even since I watched the original TV series as a child. Even Uncle Fester and Lurch make a cameo.
The scene when she does her choreographed dance is amazingly stylistically cool!
I know this sort of thing isn't for everyone - and that's OK. I just enjoyed it as a fantastic piece of 'theatre'.
4 out of 5 for me.
