Dean

I caught-up with an old mate today, someone I hadn't seen in over 15 years. Dean lives in Dubbo (about a 2-1/2 hours' drive west of here), and was on his way thru here on his way to Sydney for some training. We caught-up (thanks to making contact via Facebook) and shared how things have been going. Dean was our 'roadie' in the band 'Surprise' way back in the late 80's/early 90's, so we sure had some funny recollections we'd both forgotten all about. It's always good catching up with people you haven't seen in many years. Well, people you want to reconnect with, that is. It's all been positive for me, with the people I've caught-up-with over the last few years that way, anyways :) I sat up laaaaaaaaaate last night watching the first day of the third Ashes cricket test game... I was still wide awake at 4am! ... the joys of living on your own (at the moment). I originally planned to go to bed at about 10 o'clock, after the start of play had been rained out... but instead I slipped on my DVD of "Saving Private Ryan"... such an emotive film... even tho I've seen it many times before, I simply could not stop watching it all the way thru! Makes me feel so passionately emotive every-single-time I've experienced it.
Peas be with ewe Cyalayta, Mal :)

  2. Unreal Mal! I just caught up with a girl tonight that I had not spoken to in 18 years! We both moved away and lost touch. Good old Facebook got us back together! She lives in Canada now!

  3. I don't think it is always good. Sometimes you lose touch with people because it was meant to be that way. People change, they move on. Call me a misanthropist but...

  5. The beauty of places like Facebook is that you can always say the magical word, "No", if someone wants to reconnect with you. And yes, certainly, there are some VERY good reasons why I simply do not want to get back in touch with some people who formerly would have been called my friends. Life's like that, and I move on happily.
But, the people I have reconnected with have been fantastic, realistic, down-to-earth people - and it's been all positive. Deans' one of those people. Bless 'im!
